What is a TOG rating?FAQ
TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade, and it measures how warm and insulated a piece of sleepwear or bedding is.
- Lower TOG = lighter, more breathable fabric
- Higher TOG = thicker, more insulated
Choosing the right TOG helps keep your child comfortably warm based on their sleep environment. All SnugBub sleepwear is TOG-rated, so you can sleep easy knowing your little one is safe and snug.
When should I use a 0.2 or 0.3 TOG sleeping bag or swaddle?
Our 0.2 and 0.3 TOG sleepwear is ultra-light and breathable—ideal for warm weather (22°C and above) or for layering under a heavier sleep pouch.
These pieces are especially gentle on sensitive or eczema-prone skin. Made from soft, chemical-free, natural fibres (like certified organic cotton), SnugBub's light TOG items are breathable and non-irritating—recommended for babies who need cool comfort through the night.
When is a 1.0 TOG sleeping bag best?
Our 1.0 TOG sleepwear is great for in-between seasons or air-conditioned rooms with temperatures between 20–24°C. It’s perfect for year-round use when layered right. Think of it as your go-to middle layer: not too warm, not too light.
When should I use 2.5 TOG sleepwear?
Our 2.5 TOG range is made for cooler nights (15–21°C). These sleep sacks, suits, and swaddles offer cozy warmth without overheating, perfect for autumn, winter, or chilly early mornings. If your child’s room tends to get cold overnight, 2.5 TOG is the one to reach for.

What materials do you use?
We use certified organic cotton and natural, breathable fibres. No harsh chemicals. No nasties. Just soft, skin-safe comfort for better sleep.
Are your products safe for babies with eczema?
Yes. Our sleepwear is crafted with gentle, natural fabrics that are breathable and free from chemicals, dyes, or treatments that could irritate sensitive skin. Many parents of eczema-prone babies choose SnugBub for this reason.
How do I choose the right TOG?
Start with the temperature of your baby’s room, not the outside weather. Here’s a quick guide:
- 22°C and above → 0.2 / 0.3 TOG
- 20–24°C → 1.0 TOG
- 15–21°C → 2.5 TOG
You can also adjust layers underneath as needed.
Can I use a fan or aircon with your sleepwear?
Yes! If you're using a fan or air conditioning, just check the room temperature and pick a TOG that fits. Our breathable fabrics help regulate temperature safely, even with air circulation.
How do I wash SnugBub sleepwear?
Machine wash cold or warm on a gentle cycle. Use mild, baby-safe detergent. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals. Tumble dry on low or hang to dry. They’re built to last, even with lots of love (and laundry).
